Hi folks! Hope you have a merry Christmas :)

Here is a page from my sketchbook. I've been reading a lot of Marvel's Ultimate Universe comics lately - as a matter of fact all issues from number one up (easy here in Brasil since they have all been compiled into a single monthly comic!). I thought this woman detective (from the Ultimate Extinction limited series) was pretty cool so I had to draw her :)

I updated the Link & Clink after editing the images. Why? I got a new LCD monitor, so everything is brighter now. Old minitors really darkens everything up - I always wondered why most digital art seemed too dark.... Apparently they were fine, it was all a display problem on my side. This struck me as something very interesting actually, of how the display can affect the appreciation of an artwork. Seeing a really expensive digital TV on a supermaket sealed this epiphany for me - I never believed those mega-costly tv's were so worth the money. But after seeing a scene from Spider-Man 2 on it - where Octupus awakens with four metallic arms, walks into the street and throws a car around - I'm completely sold. Now I just need 4,000 dollars. Anyone wanna help? :P

While you guys gather money to get me that dream TV, I'm working on something more ambitious and in full color. Let's see if I can finish it this year! I'm slow!

Aqui está uma página do meu caderno de esboços. Eu estive lendo muito do Universo Millenium (Ultimate nos EUA) da Marvel - alías, todas as revistas desde o número um (fácil aqui no Brasil, já que todas revistas foram compiladas em um única revista mensal!). Eu achei esta mulher detetive (da minissérie Pesadelo Supremo) bem legal então eu tive que desenhar ela :)

Eu atualizei o post do Link & Clink depois de editar as imagens. Porquê? Eu tenho um novo monitor de LCD, então tudo está mais claro agora. Monitores velhos realmente escurecem tudo - eu sempre achei que a maioria da arte digital era muito escura... Aparentemente elas estavam bem, era tudo um problema de apresentação do meu lado. Isto me atingiu de uma forma muito interessante alías, como a forma de apresentação pode afetar a experiência de ver um trabalho artístico. Ver uma TV digital muito cara em um supermercado completou esta epifania pra mim - eu nunca tinha acreditado que essas tevês mega caras valiam seu preço. Mas depois de ver uma cena do Homem-Aranha 2 - onde o Octopus acorda com qutro braços metálicos, sai pra rua e isola um carro - estou totalmente convencido. Agora eu só preciso de 8,000 reais. Alguém quer ajudar? :P

Enquanto vocês juntam dinheiro para comprar pra mim esta TV dos sonhos, eu estou trabalhando em algo mais ambicioso e todo em cores. Vamos ver se eu termino este ano! Sou lento!

Sight for sore eyes/Colírio para os olhos

Here is a pencil drawing I did this year. Its actually a remake of a sketch I had done in January or February. After reading Anatomy books and doodling a lot, I wasn't happy with the way I was drawing women (and most others things) so I gave it another go. What was supposed to be a quick sketch turned into hours and hours erasing and redrawing until the elusive lines settled where I wanted them to be. The funny thing about making this drawing is that it does not have many details, but I still spent all that time on it. I do like the result though, to me its as close as I ever came to actually drawing a sexy girl :P (and without references, like a photo etc)

And after all those Dark Sun brutes, it was beyond time for a nice girl here, don't you think? ;)

Aqui está um desenho à lápis que eu fiz este ano. Na verdade é uma releitura de um esboço que eu tinha feito em Janeiro ou Fevereiro. Depois de ler livros de anatomia e rabiscar bastante, eu não estava satisfeito com a maneira que eu desenhava mulheres (e a maioria das outras coisas) então eu resolvi refazê-lo. O que era pra ser um esboço rápido se transformou em horas e horas apagando e redesenhando até que as evasivas linhas repousaram onde eu queria que estivessem. A parte engraçada de fazer este desenho é que ele não tem muitos detalhes, mas eu gastei todo aquele tempo nele. Pelo menos eu gostei bastante do resultado, pra mim é o mais próximo que eu já cheguei de desenhar uma garota sexy :P (e sem referências, como uma foto, etc)

E depois de todos aqueles brutos de Dark Sun, estava mais do que na hora de ter uma gatinha aqui, você não acha? ;)

Link & Clink

So, they are finally here: Link & Clink! It's been a while since I postedLink's face drawings, but better late than never :)

This is my second attempt at digital painting - the first one was Aan. That means there were no pencil tonal values, and the (many) changes I made from the pencil sketch were painted directly. I'm not totally satisfied with this piece, but since its digital its possible to work on it for an indefinite amount of time... And I certainly exhausted myself on this one, so for now this version will do ;)

I included some details of the painting that I did like. Edited in 4/12/08: Also included an image of the black and white values stage. This is how I did this work: full black and white, then added color to it and some details like the clouds.

Oh and I need a new PC, these 300 megs photoshop files are killing CPU/RAM and disk space...

Então, eles estão finalmente aqui: Link & Clink! Já faz um tempão que postei os desenhos do rosto do Link, mas antes tarde do que nunca :)

Esta é minha segunda tentativa de pintura digital - a primeira foi a Aan. Isso significa que não havia valores tonais e lápis, e as (muitas) mudanças feitas a partir do esboço à lápis foram pintadas diretamente. Eu não estou totalmente satisfeito com este trabalho, mas por ser mídia digital é possível trabalhar nele por um período indeterminado de tempo.... E eu certamente me exauri neste aqui, então por enquanto esta versão vai quebrar o galho ;)

Eu incluí alguns detalhes da pintura de que eu realmente gostei. Editado 4/12/08: Também incluí uma imagem do estágio com valores de preto e branco. Foi assim que eu fiz este trabalho: preto e branco completo, então adicionei cores e outros detalhes como as nuvens.

Ah e eu preciso de um novo PC, esses arquivos de Photoshop de 300 mega estão matando a CPU/RAM e o espaço em disco...

The fifth element!?/O Quinto elemento!?

Surprise! After the four Dark Sun characters associated with the elements of Fire, Air, Water and Earth, we have the fifth element, the Mind - for Van Dyk is a human teenager with great psionic powers (I know, it sounds like Captain Planet :P ). Through a great omen he came to find and join the group formed by Kyr, Kalag, Luinil and Undertaker - and together they lived epic adventures in the lands of Athas.

Done this pencil back in 2006 along with the others Dark Sun guys. Unlike the other works, I decided to actually draw a background instead of just throwing some texture in Photoshop (I do like the other backgrounds though). I'm quite happy with the pencil result, especially because that is 'digital pencil', meaning I used the texture of the scanned pencil to fake real pencil work :)

I'd like to thank you guys for the comments on the last post! (I usually comment the comments in the comment form, so check it out if you want). Special thanks to Alysson, who said my signature is 'the craziest of all time' ! It took me a really long time (years) trying to come up with a cool signature, as I don't really erm... write that well aesthetically speaking - believe it or not. So it had to be simple letters, some sort of symbol - and I got pages and pages of those attempts. I always liked the Ying/Yang and some concepts of oriental life/philosophy, so I tried to incorporate this in some way: my sig are actually two A's, one of them upside down making the role of a T. So its positive and negative - opposites converging together, to form a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts and all that :) Philosophies aside, what matters is that I'm the happiest person of all times, because someone liked my signature! :)

Surpresa! Depois dos quatro personagens de Dark Sun relacionados aos elementos do Fogo, Ar, Água e Terra, nós temos o quinto elemto, a Mente - pois Van Dyk é um adolescente humano com grandes poderes psiônicos. (Eu sei, parece Capitão Planeta :P ). Através de um poderoso sinal ele achou e se juntou ao grupo formado por Kyr, Kalag, Luinil e Undertaker - e juntos eles viveram aventuras épicas nas terras de Athas.

Fiz este desenho à lápis em 2006, junto com os outros caras de Dark Sun. Ao contrário das outras artes, eu decidi realmente desenhar um cenário ao invés de apenas jogar algumas texturas no Photoshop (Apesar de que eu gosto dos outros cenários). Eu fiquei bem feliz com o resultado de lápis, especialmente porque aquilo é 'lápis digital', o que signifca que eu usei a textura do lápis escaneado para fingir trabalho à lápis manual :)

Eu quero agradecer aos comentários da galera na última postagem! (Geralmente eu comento os comentários no formulário de comentários, então fraga lá se quiserem). Um grande valeu pro Alysson, que disse que minha assinatura 'é a mais doida de todos os tempos' ! Tomou-me um grande tempo (anos) tentando inventar uma assinatura bacana, especialmente porque eu não bem... escrevo tão bem assim, esteticamente falando - acredite se quiser. Então tinha que ser letras de forma, algum tipo de símbolo - e eu tenho página e páginas dessas tentativas. Eu sempre gostei do Ying/Yang e alguns conceitos da vida/filosofia oriental, então tentei incorporar isso de alguma forma: minha assinatura é na verdade dois A's, um deles de cabeça pra baixo, fazendo o papel de T. Então são positivo e negativo - opostos convergindo juntos, para formar um todo que é maior do que a soma das partes e essas coisas todas :) Filosofias à parte, o que importa é que eu sou a pessoa mais feliz de todos os tempos, pois alguém gostou da minha assinatura :)

Undertaker!

And now, the fourth element: Undertaker, the half-giant that holds the power of Earth! His unusual name comes from his life story: he was the one responsible for picking up the dead bodies after a day of many battles at the arena of his home city. Kyr, the 'Fire' Mul, used to fight in that arena, so the two knew each other. And yes, that is a metal weapon is his hand ;) Its a massive two handed hammer, for a human that is - in the hands of 12 foot tall Undertaker, it looks almost funny. But not so funny for whoever is smacked by the overwhelming strength of a blow with the hammer... (sure homerun ;) )

About the background, I saw a Dark Sun illustration with those 2 'moons' in the back, and thought it would be cool to add them to my illo. I'm assuming they are moons, if someone more versed in Dark Sun lore can solve this mystery please do :)

I forgot to say that the pencil work on these Dark Sun characters date back from 2006. A friend of mine told me in person there were some anatomy problems. I agree and I think that he and others can post that kind of comment/strong critique here (he said he didn't want to). I didn't want to fix them too much - all had minor tweaks digitally - just wanted to color them and see what happens. Undertaker here was an exception as I changed the actual, physical pencil drawing substantially - his arms and chest were too small for his stature, and his right foot had a weird angle. That's as far as I went - only a complete redrawing could fix some anatomy issues still there. So pencils are from 2006 with tweaks, colors from 2008 :)

I actually went ahead and added a date to all art here that did not have one (yes, editing the actual images - and whats worse, re-posting those and ALL other images in order, so the Slideshow images order are the same of those of the Posts). The pain!!! Well, some arts even lacked a signature and I fixed that as well, so its all good :)


E agora, o quarto elemento: Undertaker (Coveiro), o meio gigante que possui o poder da Terra! Seu nome incomum vem de sua história de vida: ele era o responsável em recolher os corpos dos mortos depois de um dia de muitas batalhas na arena de sua cidade natal. Kyr, o Mul que é 'Fogo', lutava nesta arena, então os dois se conheciam. E sim, essa é uma arma de metal na mão dele ;) É um gigantesco martelo de duas mãos, isto é, para um humano - não mãos do Undertaker de três metros e sesenta e cinco centímetros, ela fica quase engraçada. Mas não tão engraçado para quem for detonado pela força descomunal de um golpe com o martelo... (homerun na certa ;) )

Quanto ao cenário, eu vi uma ilustração de Dark Sun com essas duas 'luas' no fundo, e achei que seria legal adicionar elas no meu trampo. Eu estou assumindo que são luas, se alguém mais versado em conhecimentos de Dark Sun conseguir desvendar este mistério por favor faça-o :)

Eu esqueci de dizer que o trabalho de lápis nestes personagens de Dark Sun datam de 2006. Um amigo meu me disse pessoalmente que tinha alguns problemas de anatomia. Eu concordo e acho que ele e outros podem postar este tipo de comentário/ crítica forte aqui (ele disse que não queria). Eu não queria consertar os desenhos muito - todos tiveram pequenos ajustes digitais - apenas colorir e ver o que aconteceria. O Undertaker aqui foi uma exceção, pois eu mudei o desenho a lápis, no papel mesmo, substancialmente - seus braços e peito eram muito pequenos para o seu porte, e seu pé direito tinha um ângulo estranho. Isso foi até onde eu fui - somente redesenhando tudo eu poderia consertar alguns problemas de anatomia ainda presentes. Então, lápis são de 2006 com ajustes, cores são de 2008 :)

Na verdade eu até me empolguei e adicionei uma data para todas artes aqui que não tinham uma (sim, editando as imagens mesmo - e o que é pior, re-postando estas e TODAS outra imagens em ordem, para que as imagens do Slideshow tenham a mesma ordem daquelas das postagens). A dor!!! Bom, algumas artes estavam até sem assinatura e eu consertei isto também, então tá valendo :)

I'm also testing out different colors for the blog background, text etc. I usually don't like black backgrounds for sites, but I think white was tiring me... I included some yellow because of the simultaneous contrast this color has with black ;)

Eu também estou testando cores diferentes para o fundo do blog, texto etc. Normalmente eu não gosto de fundos pretos em sites, mas eu acho que branco estava me cansando... Eu incluí um pouco de amarelo por causa do contraste simultâneo que esta cor tem com preto ;)

Luinil (And some important words!/E algumas palavras importantes!)

This is Luinil, elven mage and holder of the power of Water. Athasian elves are supposed to have long legs (and are known as desert runners) so that's what I went for in the drawing. I don't recall the extension of his powers, but I added faint clouds in the back -imagine someone that can create water in Dark Sun... I always wanted to color this because of the spell lightning his face and body :)
And last but not least, I used as reference the elf in the cover of the Dark Sun novel The Brazen Gambit, which is a terrific artwork by a great artist named Brom.

I'd like to send a big thank you for everyone that comes here and support what I'm trying to do - be a professional someday. It really means a lot and feels great to have the feedback and the interaction with people. Special thanks goes to my childhood friend Paulo, our eternal RPG Dungeon Master - most of the characters here come from games heDM'ed for me and our friends. And, as he said in a comment on the last post, he encouraged me to stop being egoistical and share my art with people - and that means a huge 'people' here on the internet!

There are also a couple new features on this blog.

I added the Followers feature, so it would be great if people click on that so they show they are coming here as regulars :) You can follow as anonymous, but then no mugshot!

The second one is a feature that lets people say if a post is funny/interesting/cool that I altered in an ingenious way. I edited it and replaced the words with numbers, and thus I created a grading system from 1 to 5! So if someone wants to rate a drawing, please do - including the ones from previous posts! It takes only a second, so if someone is not willing to comment they can at least leave a 1 to 5 grade for the artwork. It will be really huge for me, so I thank the voters in advance :)



Este é Luinil, mago elfo e portador do poder da Água. Elfos Athasianos em teoria tem perrnas longas (e são conhecidos como corredores do deserto) então eu busquei colocar isso no desenho. Eu não me lembro da extensão de seus poderes, mas eu adiconei sutis nuvens atrás - imagine alguém que pode criar água em Dark Sun... Eu sempre quis colorir este por causa da magia iluminando sua cara e seu corpo :)
E por último mas não menos importante, eu usei como referência o elfo na capa do romance de Dark Sun 'The Brazen Gambit', que é uma excelente ilustração feita por um grande artista chamado Brom.

Eu gostaria de mandar um grande obrigado para todos que vem aqui e dão suporte para o que eu estou tentado fazer - ser profissional um dia. Realmente significa muito e é uma sensação muito boa ter as críticas e a interação com as pessoas. Agradecimentos especiais vão para meu amigo de infância Paulo, nosso eterno mestre de RPG - a maioria dos personagens aqui são de jogos que ele mestrou para mim e nossos amigos. E, como ele disse em um comentário no último Post, ele me incentivou a deixar de ser egoísta e dividir minha arte com as pessoas - e isso significa um gigante 'pessoas' aqui na internet!

Também tem um par de coisas novas aqui neste blog.

Eu adicionei o espaço de Seguidores, então seria bacana se as pessoas clicassem nele para que mostrem que vem aqui regularmente :) Você pode acompanhar anonimamente também, mas aí é sem sua fotinha da DP!

A segunda coisa é uma paradinha que permite as pessoas dizerem se um post é engraçado/interessante/legal que eu alterei de uma forma genial. Eu editei e substituí as palavras por números, e portanto eu criei um sistema de notas de 1 a 5! Então se alguém quiser dar nota a um desenho, por favor faça-o - inclusive aqueles dos post anteriores! Só leva um segundo, então se alguém não está a fim de deixar um comentário eles podem pelo menos dar uma nota de 1 a 5 para a arte. Kalag

Lets continue with some Dark Sun characters! This is Kalag, a mysterious Ranger with a dark and still not fully revealed past. With his teleport ability, he gets real close to his enemies and quickly devastates them with his superior two weapon fighting skills - not to mention that he knows where to hit! (Sneak attack ability to those who know a bit about D&D). So yes, he's another all around bad ass guy :)

Since Bruno Pinheiro posted a comment about it on the previous post: these characters did have metal weapons. In the Dark Sun world this is very rare, and while not rich these characters are special :) Each of them is sort of an element - Kyr is Fire (As you can see in his red eyes - Muls dont have hair but have normal eyes!) and Kalag is Air.

Vamos continuar com alguns personagens de Dark Sun! Este é Kalag, um misterioso Ranger com um passado sombrio e ainda não inteiramente revelado. Com sua habilidade de teletransporte, ele chega bem próximo aos seus inimigos e rapidamente devasta eles com sua grande habilidade de luta com duas armas - sem falar que ele sabe onde acertar! (habilidades de Ataque Furtivo pra quem conhece um pouco de D&D). Então sim, ele é mais um cara fodão :)

Já que o Bruno Pinheiro postou um comentário a respeito no post anterior: estes personagens tinham mesmo armas de metal. No mundo de Dark Sun isto é muito raro, e enquanto estes personagens não são ricos, eles são especiais :) Cada um deles é de certa forma um elemento - Kyr é Fogo (como você pode ver em seus olhos vermelhos - Muls não tem cabelos mas tem olhos normais!) e Kalag é Ar.

Lápis de 2006 com pequenos ajustes, cores digitais de 2008. Eu realmente gostei de como a areia ficou, tanto no chão quanto os grãos no ar.

Mul

Hi folks this is Kyr, a gladiator of the Mul race I played in an old Dark Sun campaign. Muls naturally have very few body fat (which doesn't make sense, since they have great physical undurance - no fat to burn as energy after a week jogging?) and no body hair at all. I based his face a bit in Vin Diesel, who is actually an avid Dungeons & Dragons player! He even wrote the foreword of the book 30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons. While some people don't like it, and I agree could have been done even better here and there, I think the movie Chronicles of Riddick rules! The visual effects, clothing and fight sequences are superb, and there are of course the universe destroyers, bad-ass Necromongers. I´ll draw Riddick and some Necros someday and post here :)

Ah and I was not gonna color this one, but I just started to do it, hehe. These pencil drawings with tonal values already defined are really easy and fun to do color! I added a simple background so he would not float...

Fala galera este é o Kyr, um gladiador da raça Mul com o qual eu joguei em uma antiga campanha de Dark Sun. Muls naturalmente tem muito pouca gordura corporal (o que não faz sentido, já que eles tem grande resistência física - nenhuma gordura pra queimar como energia depois de uma semana correndo?) e nehnhum cabelo no corpo. O rosto dele foi um pouco baseado no Vin Diesel, que na verdade é um ávido jogador de Dungeons & Dragons! Ele até mesmo escreveu a introdução do livro 30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons. Enquanto algumas pessoas não gostam, e eu concordo que poderia ter sido feito melhor aqui e ali, eu acho que o filme A Batalha de Riddick é foda! Os efeitos visuais, figurino e sequeências de luta são excelentes, e tem é claro os destruidores de universo, os fodaços Necromongers. Eu vou desenhar o Riddick e uns necros algum dia e postar aqui :)

Ah e eu não ia colorir este, mas eu simplesmente comecei a fazê-lo, hehe. Esses desenhos de lápis com valores tonais já definidos são realmente fáceis e divertidos de se colorir! Eu adicionei um fundo simples para que ele não flutuasse...

Dhaeraow

Here is a Drow lady, while I work on Dragonlance stuff. Because after all, haste makes waste :)
Now that I to think of it, I should have posted this older work earlier, so at least the blog would have a new post ;) I do have several older works that I think are good enough, but don't worry - I like new ones better!

Aqui temos uma senhorita Drow, enquanto eu trabalho em coisas de Dragonlance. Porque afinal de contas, a pressa é inimga da perfeição :)

No, I'm not cursing you in elvish in the title of this post - that is the name of another Dragonlance character! :)
Actually, bad words should be directed against me, for not updating the blog weekly as I wanted to! The last post received very interesting and constructive criticism (thank you guys!), so I shouldn't skip my postings. By the way, english speakers (writers?) out there are also very welcome here, and I will get back to you in your own language! I made the effort of making this blog bilingual because english is just a must today; it really increases the potential number of readers. So don't be shy :)

Now to business: Lanoana is a Qualinesti Elf and cleric of Mishakal, Goddess of healing. She is an expert at the uber skill of Herbalism, so watch out!

This one started as a pencil drawing. Then I did a futile attempt at traditional inking, which freaked me out - and prompted me to scan it and digitally color directly over the pencil. Check the inks out here if you don't believe me! At least I used a brush now, so its not as stiff as it gets with tech pens. Cris Lago, an old friend of mine, did comment on the previous post that inkers are not guys that just contour over the lines of the penciler. I'm gonna have to agree here, and say it was a perky find - since humbly, I do feel my pencil is improving - but when I ink it, its aaargh! My skills disappear! Just makes we wish I had an inker, anyone interested? :P

Na verdade, qualquer palavrão deveria ser direcionado à minha pessoa, por não estar atualizando o blog semanalmente como eu queria! A última postagem recebeu críticas muito interessantes e construtivas(valeu galera!), então eu não deveria 'pular' minha postagens. Aliás, pessoas que falam (escrevem?) inglês por aí também são muito bem vindas aqui, e eu vou responder você em sua própria língua! Eu fiz o esforço de fazer este blog bilíngue porque inglês é simplesmente necessário hoje em dia; realmente aumenta o número de leitores em potencial. Então não sejam tímidos :)

Agora aos negócios: Lanoana é uma Elfa Qualinesti e clérica de Mishakal, Deusa da cura. Ela é uma expert na poderosa habilidade do Herbalismo, então tenha cuidado!

Este aqui começou como um desenho a lápis. Então eu fiz uma tentativa fútil de arte-final tradicional com nanquim - que me assustou e me fez escanear o desenho e colorir digitalmente, diretamente sobre o lápis. Confira o nanquim aqui se você não acredita em mim! Pelo menos eu usei um pincel agora, então não ficou tão duro quanto fica com canetas técnicas. Cris lago, um antigo amigo meu, comentou na postagem anterior que arte-fnalistas não são apenas caras que contornam as linhas dos desenhistas. Eu vou ter que concordar aqui, e dizer que foi um estranho achado - já que, humildemente, eu sinto que meu lápis tem melhorado - mas quando eu mexo com nanquim, é aaargh! Minhas habilidades desaparecem! Simplesmente me faz desejar que eu tivesse um arte-finalista, alguém se habilita? :P

Supergirl/Super-moça

I'm supposed to focus on Dragonlance, but this Supergirl was another of those 'crazy ideas that just pop in my head' (see post 'Elves against the four armed warrior/Elfos contra o guerreiro de quatro braços'. I thought about turning 'crazy ideas...' into a label, but I guess it's silly, and it's happening a lot lately - so pretty soon all posts would be tagged with that :)

Included full process here: pencils, inks (need to practice that a LOT more - I basically killed my pencils expression here...) and digital colors.


Eu deveria estar focado no Dragonlance, mas esta Super-moça foi mais uma daquelas 'idéias loucas que simplesmente aparecem na minha cabeça' (Veja post 'Elves against the four armed warrior/Elfos contra o guerreiro de quatro braços'. Eu pensei em fazer das 'idéias loucas' uma categoria, mas acho que seria estúpido, e está acontecendo muito ultimamente - então daqui a pouco todos posts seriam marcados com isso :)

Incluí o processo todo aqui: lápis, nanquim (tenho que praticar isso MUITO mais - eu basicamente matei a expressividade do meu traço a lápis aqui...) e cores digitais.

Dragonlance!

I am starting to play a new RPG campaign, set in the world of Dragonlance. So drawings from this setting will be made eventually :) Not only drawings but hopefully sketches and reference sheets (more on that later), up to full color paintings. That way I can update the blog more often, something that is not happening lately. Dragonlance was originally created by Laura and Tracy Hickman and is a RPG setting as well as a starting point for almost two hundred novels.

To start, we have the kender of the group, Link. First, a reference sheet with rotations of his face. These are made to be used as a quick reference when drawing the character, already with the desired style in mind. And as soon as I finish it, Link and his dog Clink will show up in a new post.

Eu estou começando a jogar uma nova campnha de RPG, ambientada no mundo de Dragonlance. Então desenhos deste cenário vão ser feitos eventualmente :) Não apenas desenhos, mas espero que esboços e fichas de referência (mais a respeito depois) até pinturas em cores. Desta forma eu posso atualizar o blog com mais frequência, algo que não está ocorrendo recentemente. Dragonlance foi criado originalmente por Laura e Tracy Hickman e é um cenário de RPG e também ponto de partida para quase duas centenas de romances.

Pra começar, temos o kender do grupo, Link. Primeiro uma ficha de referência com rotações de sua cabeça. Estas são feitas para serem usadas como uma referência rápida quando se desenha o personagem, já com o traço desejado. E assim que eu terminar, Link e seu cachorro Clink vão aparecer em uma nova postagem.

So here it is, finally... I liked the bad guy more than the good ones in this piece, so I included a close up of his face. Hope someone leaves a comment :)

Elves against the four armed warrior/Elfos contra o guerreiro de quatro braços

Recently I started to have some crazy ideas that just pop in my head. That´s how I came up with this evil warrior with 4 arms that has a dragon theme to him. As he looked goofy alone with a battle pose, I added the elves and made it into a fight scene. Then I had to add a background, something I must train a lot more! (I added a celtic pattern there, which acts as a border for the drawing and design on the door) The process: I made a loose sketch, scanned it and did all the rest digitally, which was a pain... I hate computers sometimes :) I'll color it later, that´s why its mostly a few lines for now!

Recentemente eu comecei a ter uma idéias loucas que simplesmente aparecem na minha cabeça. Foi assim que eu bolei este maligno guerreiro de quatro braços que tem um tema draconiano. Como ele ficou meio tosco sozinho com uma pose de batalha, eu adicionei os elfos e fiz uma cena de luta. Então eu tive de adicionar um cenário, algo que eu preciso treinar muito mais! (Eu coloquei um padrão celta aí também, que funciona como uma borda para o desenho e desenho da porta) O processo: eu fiz um esboço bem solto, passei pro PC e fiz o resto digitalmente, o que foi difícil... eu odeio computadores ás vezes :) Vou colorir mais tarde, é por isso que são linhas bem simples agora!

Lately I have been observing some veeery old drawings I made. I decided to remake some of them to see what I have learned so far. This (long-haired) Cyclops is one of them, later there will be more!
