Ultimate Fantastic Four/Quarteto Fantástico Millenium

So, continuing with my Ultimate Marvel universe addiction... the Fantastic Four! This one really just flowed in... Gotta love when that happens - much better than when you don't know what to draw and you stare at the white page for what seems like endless time! I started with the Thing, then suddenly I had the other three quickly sketched in. Then today I spent the whole afternoon refining it, including drawing accurate costumes (well, Ultimate Marvel wise!). I wanted to get it in today, January 31st, so this month had four posts! I really want to (try to) update here weekly, and even when that fails, I will make sure each month has four posts. Hopefully they'll be a fantastic four :P

Então, continuando com meu vício no universo Marvel Millenium/Ultimate... o Quarteto Fantástico! Este aqui realmente e simplesmente fluiu... Tem que se gostar quando isso acontece - bem melhor do que quando você não sabe o que desenhar, e olha para a página em branco pelo que parece uma eternidade! Eu comecei com o Coisa e de repente já tinha os outros três esboçados. Então hoje eu gastei toda a tarde refinando o desenho, incluindo desenhar as roupas bem fiéis (bem, no estilo Marvel Ultimate!). Eu queria terminar até hoje, 31 de Janeiro, para que este mês tivesse quatro postagens! Eu quero mesmo (tentar) atualizar semanalmente, e quando isto falhar, eu vou fazer com que cada mês tenha pelo menos quatro postagens. Espero que sejam um quarteto fantástico :P

Another Wolverine from my brand new 2009 sketchbook :)

I'm having a lot of fun drawing these (See Wolverine vs. Hulk) . I always loved to do crosshatching and different line weights. It brings a sort of abstract element to the drawing, at the same time that its used to create volume for the figure. Its very loose and intuitive, and I guess that's why I prefer penciling :)

Edited in Monday, January 26th: Changed the image with a better scan. That means good and bad news. Good: I can actually scan drawings from my sketchbook without problems if I remove the scanner lid. Bad: I already ripped out the drawing of the previous post :P

I think its cool to show the binding of the book, so left it in.

Outro Wolverine do meu novíssimo caderno de esboços de 2009 :)

Estou curtindo muito fazer estes desenhos (Veja Wolverine vs. Hulk). Eu sempre gostei de fazer hachuras e pesos de linha diferentes. Isto traz um tipo de elemento abstrato para o desenho, ao mesmo tempo que é usado para criar volume para a figura. É bem solto e intuitivo, e acho que é por isso que eu prefiro desenhar a lápis :)

Editado Segunda, 26 de Janeiro: Mudei a imagem para uma melhor escaneada. Isso significa uma boa e uma má notícia. Boa: é possível escanear desenhos do caderno de esboços sem problemas se eu retirar a tampa do scanner. Má: eu já arranquei a página com o desenho do post anterior :P

Eu acho bacana mostrar a espiral da encadernação, então eu deixei ela.

Wolverine vs. Hulk!

Back to the (physical) drawing board! This is the first drawing I did on my 2009 sketchbook. I guess I´m in the mood for some claw action, and Wolverine is the coolest char ever for that! Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday also really pumped me up to do this. After I finsihed it I ripped the page off to scan easier, which means the sketchbook is blank - but I'll fill it up quickly! (another New Year Resolution?)

I kept it a little dirty so it can show how I draw, instead of cleaning it all up with an eraser or Photoshop. Its from a sketchbook after all :)

De volta à prancheta de desenho (física)! Este é o primeiro desenho que eu fiz no meu caderno de esboços de 2009. Acho que estou em uma fase de ação com garras, e o Wolverine é o personagem mais foda nesse sentido! Surpreendentes X-Men por Joss Whedon e John Cassaday também me empolgaram muito para desenhar isto. Depois que eu terminei eu arranquei a página para escanear mais fácil, o que significa que o caderno de esboços ficou vazio - mas eu vou enchê-lo rápido! (Outra Resolução de Ano Novo?)

Eu mantive o trabalho um pouco sujo pra mostrar como eu desenho, ao invés de limpar tudo com uma borracha ou no Photoshop. É de um caderno de esboços afinal :)

Happy New Year to all of you out there :)

First artwork of 2009! I did this piece in a couple days, and it still needs some fine tuning. Its a character I created, which will be familiar for a very few people I know personally. A friend told me he really liked the way I included the work process in a horizontal display in some posts - so I did that here. I totally enjoyed the (digital) pencil stage on this one - I thought it was impossible to draw straight on the computer, but somehow its working. And I might add, without a pile of rubber pieces from my usual constant erasing :)

Something tells me I'm a pure penciller, but I'm enjoying coloring so far. Still, I might focus more on pencil drawing this year - digital or old school - as I need to improve in several areas. New year resolution? Anyways, I dig this one, and it got me pumped for this new year. What do you, my fearless readers think?

Feliz Ano Novo para todos vocês aí :)

Primeira arte de 2009! Eu fiz esta ilustração em dois dias, e ainda preciso refinar ela um pouco. É um personagem que eu criei, que vai ser familiar para algumas poucas pessoas que eu conheço pessoalmente. Um amigo me disse que ele realmente gostou do modo como eu incluí o processo do trabalho em uma forma horizontal em alguns posts - por isso eu fiz isto aqui. Eu realmente gostei do estágio de lápis (digital) neste trampo - eu achava que era impossível desenhar direto no computador, mas de alguma forma está funcionando. E, devo acrescentar, sem uma pilha de pedaços de borracha por conta das minhas constantes apagadas :)

Algo me diz que eu sou um desenhista mesmo, mas eu estou gostando de colorir até agora. Ainda assim, eu possivelmente vou me concentrar mais em desenho à lápis este ano - digital ou tradicional - já que preciso melhorar em várias áreas. Resolução de ano novo? De qualquer forma, eu curti este trabalho, ele me deixou empolgado para este novo ano. O que vocês, meus intrépidos leitores, acham?
